Community Guidelines

Effective Date: April 20, 2026

Version: 2026-04-20

Amara is a place to share and connect. These Community Guidelines describe the basics of what is and isn't allowed on the Service. They are incorporated into our [Terms of Service](terms-of-service) and apply to all content and activity on Amara, including posts, comments, messages, stories, Sparks, profiles, and live conversations.

We may update these Guidelines at any time. Violations can result in content removal, feature restrictions, suspension, or termination of your account.

What's Not Allowed

Harassment and abuse. Do not target, threaten, degrade, stalk, or harass others. This includes coordinated harassment, doxxing, and repeated unwanted contact.

Hate and violence. No content that attacks, dehumanizes, or incites violence against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease. No promotion or glorification of violent or terrorist acts or organizations.

Child safety. No sexual content, sexualization, or exploitation involving minors. We report suspected child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement as required by law.

Nudity and sexual content. No pornographic, sexually explicit, or non-consensually shared intimate imagery. Artistic, educational, and breastfeeding content is allowed in appropriate contexts.

Self-harm, suicide, and eating disorders. No content that encourages, promotes, or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide, or dangerous eating disorder behavior. When you post about these experiences, we may surface safety resources.

Dangerous activities and illegal conduct. No content that promotes, facilitates, or instructs others in illegal activity, violence, or dangerous harm. This includes weapons trafficking, drug sales, human trafficking, and fraud.

Impersonation and deception. Do not impersonate another person, brand, or entity. Do not engage in coordinated inauthentic behavior, manipulation, or artificial amplification.

Spam and manipulation. No bulk unsolicited messages, artificial engagement, phishing, scams, pyramid schemes, or deceptive links.

Privacy violations. Do not share others' private personal information (such as addresses, phone numbers, financial information, or identity documents) without their consent.

Intellectual property. Do not post content you don't have the right to post, including copyrighted material, trademarked material, or content that violates another person's rights.

Security and integrity. Do not probe, scan, or attempt to breach the Service. Do not distribute malware, exploit vulnerabilities, or attempt to circumvent enforcement.

When We Take Action

We use a combination of automated systems, user reports, and human review to enforce these Guidelines. Actions can include:

Severe violations (such as child safety, terrorism, and imminent threats of violence) can result in immediate removal and permanent ban.

Reporting and Appeals

If you see content that violates these Guidelines, use the in-app report feature. If your content or account is actioned, you may submit an appeal through the app where we offer one. Appeal decisions are final.
